Emilia Clarke dishes her best skincare hacks that even work when you’re ‘lazy as f***’

As Emilia Clarke beams through the screen, it’s hard not to feel the infectious energy she brings to the Zoom call from her home in North London. While most people know her as the Mother of Dragons in Game of Thrones, it’s clear that she’s just as fiery in her passion for skincare. As the global brand ambassador for Clinique, it’s no surprise that she’s well-versed in the topic. “I’ve always been really diligent,” she admits. “It’s something my mom drilled into me from a very young age.” But even with her routine, she’s had to contend with tricky skin. “I’ve always had dry, sensitive skin,” she says. “When I was a teenager, I used eczema cream on my face because it was so highly sensitive.”

As someone who spends a lot of time in the makeup chair for work, Emilia has learned to make her routine work smarter, not harder. “I’ve been working non-stop for 18 months, with a lot of people putting a lot of different stuff on my skin. It had a bit of a meltdown,” she says. “So I’m currently in the moment of stripping it all back. I’m going back to basics and making sure that the products are good for sensitive skin.” And while she’s had to pare down her routine, she’s also found ways to maximize the impact of her skincare, like using a teeny mini skincare fridge. With Emilia’s dedication to taking care of her skin, it’s no wonder she’s a trusted ambassador for one of the biggest beauty brands in the world.
